Sterile compounding
USP <797> outlines the requirements for equipment used in sterile compounding designed as cleanable, non-reactive, and maintained in a state of control. Compounding must take place within an ISO-classified environment, such as an ISO 5 primary engineering control (PEC) located in an ISO 7 buffer room. PECs, including laminar airflow workbenches (LAFWs), compounding aseptic isolators (CAIs), and biological safety cabinets (BSCs), must be certified and regularly maintained.
USP <800>
